Laurie’s First Card of the Month Class

21 01 2012

Five fantastic cards with Laurie!  Her class went really well today with everyone learning a few new techniques.  They used a Spellbinder die to make a frame for one of the card openings and also embossed layered flowers.  They also applied stitching with a journaling pen and fun accents with stickles.  Great class Laurie!

Here are a few photos…

NEW Art Journaling Classes!

19 01 2012

We have ANOTHER NEW TEACHER!!!

My name is Aileen and I love creating art—I’ve always done something creative since I was a kid.  I doodle, draw, paint, collage and occasionally write; and all these put together create art.  I am an artist and always keen on creating something.  On the crafty side I’ve done cards, bookmarks, floor mats to name a few.  At times I get busy with life, so I open my sketchbook and do something—anything!  I realized a few years ago that my sketchbook has morphed into an “art journal”.  What is an art journal?  It is a mish mash of images and text; and that can be a number of things like photos, drawings, ephemera, doodles, ideas and daily thoughts, inspirational quotes, goals, to-do lists, diary and so much more.

Anyone can make an art journal and scrapbooking is almost like art journaling.  Art journaling is more about you—your thoughts, ideas and images made by you and for you; it’s like a visual diary.  Art journaling is therapeutic and is a journey of healing yourself.    On the other hand scrapbooking is “memory pages” for family and friends, an heirloom of sorts.

On Saturday, February 11th Carol is going to have an Open House introducing me and my work.  Come out and meet me to see all the samples I’ve done.

TIME:  1:00 – 4:00

We will have a few class samples to choose from and more details on me teaching in the workshop!

Here are a few photos of the art journaling I’ve created.

Valentine Bead Special

17 01 2012

Denise purchased a fantastic amount of  “heart” beads for Valentine’s Day gift giving.  Come in from now until February 6th, 2012 — purchase any of the beads below and get one FREE Spacer Bead with each bead purchase ($5.00 value for each spacer bead) — NO LIMIT!  Have it nicely packaged for hubby to give you on Valentine’s Day — or send him in to pick out your gift.  You could even start a bracelet for you daughter, sister, mom, etc.

All of the beads below are solid sterling silver.  Some have CZ stones in them and the prices range from $20.00 – $30.00 each.  We also have a great assortment of Murano/Lampwork glass beads with hearts for $15.00.

We’re in the process of setting up a website with EVERY bead she carries.  It’s time consuming but will be so worth it for people outside the Victoria area.

First Trio Bead Home Party…at the store!

17 01 2012

As you know my friend Denise is now set up in the store with her fantastic selection of Murano/Lampwork Glass and Sterling Silver Beads for your Pandora, Chamilia, Troll Bracelets and so much more!  She has such a BIG selection now that you just need to come in and check it out.

Some of you have questioned why I added this to the store.  Well, one of the reasons was to help out her small business but to also help my business.  You already know about all the stores that continue to close in town so, the idea of adding this was a no brainer.  I’ve had to diversify many times over the years to stay in business and this is just one more way for me to keep the doors open!  I see that Precious Memories in Langley has added beads to their store too — we are ALL doing what we need to do to stay in business right?

One of my customers wanted to host a home party but asked if it could be at the store — it was the best idea A) no mess at your home and B) we could display everything for you to look at.  One of the wonderful things Denise thought of for the “home” parties was that no one had to wait for their orders and you didn’t have to pay shipping.  You went home right away with what you purchased AND everything was packaged in beautiful jewelry boxes and various packaging for gift giving.

The HOSTESS Package we had last night was — A large jewelry box to hold all your beads and bracelets, 15% of total sales from the party in FREE Merchandise and whatever your total sales were you could purchase the equivalent amount in product at 50% OFF!  There was also a booking bonus — if you booked a party from last night you got a FREE Bracelet (a $20.00 Value).  We also had a special for the ladies — buy two $15.00 Glass Beads and get one FREE.

If you would like to have your own party at the store (or your home) let us know!  Here are a few photos from the evening.

Recipe Box Class – New Teacher # 2

12 01 2012

Join one of our newest teachers Stephanie Baker and create this FUN Recipe Box from Creative Imaginations.  You may remember Stephanie from Scrapolicous when her mom owned the store on Jacklin Road.

You will decorate the outside of the box as well as 6 tabbed dividers for inside.  You will stamp the choices for the titles so please think ahead about what titles you want and jot them down.

Perhaps you have a whole bunch of awesome recipes for your daughter-in-law that your son loved as a child?  How about a niece, daughter, grand-daughter?  Whoever you make this for it will be a treasured gift!  If you sign up for this class we thought a fun addition would be to bring “your” favorite recipe to share with the group.

Please bring your basic kit, adhesive to apply the papers to the box (we have a good assortment of glues to purchase) and a foam paint brush (if you have one).

Simple Stories?

9 01 2012

I brought in this product over a year ago and ONLY picked Life Documented to start.  I wanted to see if people liked the kits and was very surprised they weren’t well received like I thought they would be.

I have now had people asking if I will carry their kits and products.  Check out their blog to see all the amazing layouts, cards, mini books and more.  Check out how simple it is to create a WHOLE album using the We R Memory Makers D-Ring Albums and divided page protectors –  Click Here!

I wanted to know if you might want me to try bringing this product in again and if so, what lines below interest you.  I will pick 2 to start based on your responses.  I am sure there will be more new releases with CHA just around the corner as well.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.  If you follow the stores facebook page you can always post your comments there too.
